Simple Family Traditions that Kids Will Treasure Forever

Simple Family Traditions that Kids Will Treasure Forever

Are you looking to start some new family traditions? Read further for simple tradition ideas that you, and your kids, will treasure forever.

Traditions are a perfect way to bring a family closer together. There is something so magical about contributing to something people before you have done and people after you will continue to do. That being said, it is never too late to start a new family tradition! We at Growing Juntos have compiled three ideas to get you started. We focused on simplicity, so that the tradition is easy to continue over time, and traditions outside of holidays, to bring a little magic to the rest of the year!

A Weekly Walk

Planning a weekly walk for your family will help set aside intentional time for you all to communicate with one another and has an added bonus of exercise! The time and location for the walk are entirely up to you, whether it is joining your kids on their walk home from school or trying out a new trail/park every Sunday. Your kids will be excited to share all about their week and won’t be distracted by toys or electronics.

Creating a Car Jam Playlist

Gone are the days of choosing one cassette or CD to play in the car or switching through radio stations with ads! A fun way to spice up your car rides is to put together a car jam playlist with your kids, allowing them all to contribute songs they like. Road trips turn into a fun anticipation of what the next song will be!

Sharing a Seed

This tradition comes from the founder of Growing Juntos, Rocio Mendias. In her family, whenever an adult is cooking with a bell pepper, they call over one of the children to aid in deseeding it. Then, the child is gifted one of the seeds to plant in the backyard. The child can then watch their own bell pepper plant grow! This is an excellent way to involve children in cooking while they are young, and you can ask for their help in taking care of the bell pepper plant as it continues to grow. This is such a quick and simple act to add on to your cooking routine.
